Ewan McIntosh talks about how some schools are consciously looking at their ecological footprint and what they are doing about it. What could your class be doing about it?
Some of the things I have seen happening in schools are
recycling (different bins for paper, plastic and food)
planting their own vegetable gardens and using the produce to create chutneys and sauces and sell back to the parents, or use the gardens to help feed the children at the school.
nature walks that are maintained by students, native trees and plants are planted and named
flower gardens that enhance and beautify the area instilling a sense of pride in students
one school has a wishing tree, a large tree that students hang their wishes off for the year
